Double Shots all round

In the early days of speciality coffee in New Zealand, the default option for a decent café was a double shot. No mucking around - back then there was an emphasis on big bold flavour. Often the coffee was roasted darker than it should've been - but the point was you could taste the coffee through the milk.

At the Alchemy Café, its double shot as standard. If you want your drink a little weaker, we prescribe getting the larger drink which has a little more milk on board - or perhaps we'd direct you to a coffee with more gentle notes, like the El Socorro Yellow Bourbon - a delicious fudgey caramel coffee that to the writer here peaks as espresso or a 6oz but becomes sweet and gentle in an 8oz drink with milk.
